9 Oct
Summary
- Five M&S and Tesco food items recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.
- The Food Standards Agency issued a public warning for affected products.
- Customers can return recalled items to stores for a full refund.
The Food Standards Agency has issued a critical recall for five food products sold at M&S and Tesco, due to concerns over possible Salmonella contamination. This contamination can lead to food poisoning, with symptoms typically including fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Individuals experiencing these symptoms are advised to stay home from work or school for at least 48 hours to prevent further spread.
Greencore, the food producer, is initiating the recall. Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in stores to inform customers about the issue and the necessary steps. These notices explain that the company is taking this precautionary measure because of the potential presence of Salmonella.
The affected products include specific date codes for Pinch Pan Poppin' Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice, Pinch Bangin' Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice, M&S Super Nutty Wholefood with Soy & Ginger Dressing, M&S Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood, and M&S Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto. All impacted products have use-by dates up to October 10th, 11th, or 13th, 2026, depending on the item.
Customers who have purchased any of these products are instructed not to consume them. They should return the items to the store where they were bought to receive a full refund without needing a receipt. This recall follows a similar incident in August 2026, where Greencore recalled pasta salads from Asda and Morrisons due to potential Listeria contamination.
