Multiple UK supermarkets are recalling ready-to-eat fruit pots and snack packs due to potential Salmonella contamination. Retailers such as ASDA, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Waitrose are affected by this recall. The products in question all have best-before or use-by dates of June 23 or 24. Consumers who have purchased these items are strongly advised not to consume them.
Tesco has recalled four fruit products, including Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry pots and packs. Sainsbury's has listed several fruit combinations with use-by dates of June 23. M&S and Waitrose have also removed apple-based products and fruit packs from their shelves, with use-by dates of June 24 and June 23 respectively. Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in stores to inform customers.
Salmonella is a significant cause of food poisoning, with symptoms including fever, diarrhoea, and stomach cramps. While often associated with undercooked meats, fresh produce can also be a source. Vulnerable groups like young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness. Consumers are urged to return affected products for a full refund.
