Sabarimala Pilgrimage Season Kicks Off with Extensive Health Services

In preparation for the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season, the Kerala government has put in place a comprehensive healthcare infrastructure to cater to the needs of the devotees. As of November 16th, 2025, emergency medical centers have been set up along the route from Pamba to Sannidhanam, with the cooperation of the devaswom board.
The Konni government medical college will function as the base hospital, while the Pathanamthitta General Hospital will provide emergency cardiology and cath lab treatments. Kaniv-108 ambulance services, equipped to handle heart-related emergencies, will also be available to the pilgrims. Special ambulance services from Sannidhanam to Pamba have also been arranged.
The health department has ensured the presence of doctors, medical college experts, and volunteer health workers to cater to the needs of the pilgrims. The control center at Pamba will operate 24 hours, and awareness campaigns have been strengthened in multiple languages, including Malayalam, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
Health Minister Veena George has urged the pilgrims to seek immediate medical attention in case of any difficulties. All hospitals along the route will be equipped with defibrillators, ventilators, and cardiac monitors, while fully equipped lab facilities will be available at Nilackal and Pamba. Operation theaters will function at both Pamba and Sannidhanam to provide immediate care.
