Almaz-Antey Corporation has introduced Russia's inaugural optical navigation system for neurosurgery, marking a significant advancement in medical technology. The Multitrack system empowers surgeons with unparalleled precision, offering real-time visualization of surgical instruments in relation to a patient's anatomy. This capability enhances surgical planning and execution, leading to less invasive procedures and improved patient recovery.
The system's functionality extends to integrating various medical imaging modalities, such as CT, MRI, and PET scans, and supports the creation of 3D printable models. Developed as part of an import substitution initiative, Multitrack has successfully entered the market, offering a domestically produced alternative to foreign systems. Its ease of use and rapid workflow have been positively received by medical professionals.
Since its implementation in April 2024 at the Kirov Military Medical Academy, the Multitrack system has facilitated over 200 successful brain surgeries. Currently, thirty such systems are operational across 22 Russian cities, demonstrating its widespread adoption and reliability in clinical practice. The system's applications span multiple surgical specialties, including military field surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedics.
