RSV Vaccine Rollout Expands for Older Adults
1 Sep
Summary
- NHS England and UKHSA launch a new vaccine program.
- Adults aged 65 to 74 are now eligible for the RSV vaccine.
- The program follows advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination.

As of September 1, 2026, NHS England and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have commenced a major vaccine expansion. The NHS Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination programme is extending its reach.
Initially, the RSV vaccine was available to adults turning 75 and later expanded to those aged 80 and over, including care home residents by April 2026. Following recent advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), eligibility criteria have been further broadened.
This new phase allows adults aged 65 to 74, who fall into specific clinical at-risk groups, to receive the RSV vaccine. This initiative aims to provide enhanced protection against RSV to a wider segment of the older adult population in the UK.
