In a remarkable display of community spirit, Romania's capital hosted an event that set a new Guinness World Record for the longest table made from recycled materials. The "Uniting Table," spanning 5,055 meters, was laid out along Unirii Boulevard to Constitution Square on Saturday.
This extensive table brought together an estimated 20,000 participants, all with a shared goal: to raise crucial funds for the country's first pediatric psychiatry hospital. The initiative aims to provide essential mental health services for children facing various disorders.
The funds raised will contribute to a new 3,900-square-meter facility within the Obregia Hospital complex in Bucharest. The project, spearheaded by the Metropolis Foundation, has an estimated cost of 16.5 million euros and is funded by private donations and sponsorships.
This new hospital is a response to an alarming rise in childhood mental health diagnoses in Romania. The facility is slated for completion by 2027, with the Ministry of Health pledging support for essential equipment and furniture.
