Wegovy Pill Arrives: Ro Sees Surge in Demand, Defies Stigma
28 Jan
Summary
- Ro reports an influx of new customers for the Wegovy pill version.
- Men are seeking the pill due to convenience and lower introductory price.
- Ro plans major Super Bowl advertising featuring Serena Williams.

Telehealth company Ro has observed a significant increase in new customers seeking the recently introduced pill form of Wegovy for weight loss. This new offering has particularly attracted men who were previously hesitant to use the injection version of the popular drug.
The surge in demand is attributed to the pill's convenience compared to injections and its introductory price of $149 per month. Patients can access the drug for $149 to $299 monthly, with this pricing available through mid-April. Insured patients may pay less.
Wegovy, based on semaglutide, mimics a gut hormone to suppress appetite and promote satiety. Launched on January 5, it is the sole GLP-1 pill currently approved for weight loss, with a competing pill from Eli Lilly expected to receive FDA review in April.
