Rev. Jesse Jackson Speaks, Ready to Continue Fight for Equality from Home

As of November 18th, 2025, the family of civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson has provided an update on his health condition. According to his oldest daughter Satita, Rev. Jackson's condition has stabilized and he is now breathing without the assistance of machines. Satita stated that her father is doing much better compared to when he was first admitted to the hospital last week.

Satita shared that Rev. Jackson is speaking on his own and is ready to return home, emphasizing that he "really wants us to continue with the work." The 83-year-old civil rights icon remains under the care of doctors as he manages his progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a neurological disorder similar to Parkinson's, which he was diagnosed with in April 2025.

Sources indicate that Rev. Jackson has been on medication to keep his blood pressure stable, but his medical team is now working to wean him off the medication. Satita also confirmed that her father has never been on life support and has "fought valiantly against a really, really aggressive infection" in recent days, making significant improvements each day.

With friends and family flying in from around the country to be by his side, Rev. Jackson appears to be on the path to recovery, eager to resume his lifelong advocacy for civil rights and social justice.
