This essential public health measure has been implemented across nearly 42,000 chemist shops, following directives from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
The CDSCO has instructed all State and Union Territory Licensing Authorities to ensure these designated QR codes are prominently displayed at retail and wholesale pharmacy locations nationwide. This effort is crucial for bolstering patient safety and advancing pharmacovigilance protocols across the country.
Tamil Nadu has pioneered this system, with the QR code stickers being distributed by the Tamil Nadu Chemists and Druggists Association (TNCDA). Residents can now scan these codes to report any adverse events or side effects experienced after consuming purchased medications, thereby enhancing drug safety.
