Regina Doctor Loses License Over Patient Misconduct

Dr. Imafidon Izekor, a physician practicing in Regina, has received a six-month suspension from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. This disciplinary action follows findings of sexual impropriety and failure to maintain professional boundaries during verbal interactions with two female patients, aged 16 and 19. The doctor was also found guilty of disrespectful communication with clinic staff.
Effective December 1st, the suspension could extend beyond six months if Dr. Izekor fails to complete required training, including courses on ethics, boundaries, and patient communication. Additionally, a chaperone will be mandated for all appointments involving female patients upon his potential return to practice.
Dr. Izekor's legal counsel argued the misconduct was at the lower end of the spectrum, involving only verbal comments. However, the college emphasized the seriousness due to the inappropriate nature of the interactions and the involvement of a minor. Appeals are planned for both the findings and the penalty.
