The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is revitalizing its aging infrastructure with a record-breaking donation of nearly $23 million. The Health Sciences Foundation announced this landmark gift, the largest in its history, which will directly address the need for equipment replacement in the two-decade-old facility.
The substantial funding is allocated across 43 grants, ensuring improvements to virtually every service. This includes advancements for the cardiac surgery program, a new linear accelerator for the cancer program, and upgrades for the emergency department, mental health services, surgery, and diagnostic imaging.
This significant investment, raised through various donations and 50/50 draws, will provide clinicians with essential tools to deliver optimal care. Funding also extends to support cancer care at the Terrace Bay and Marathon hospitals, demonstrating a broader commitment to regional health.
