- Woman regained height after liver transplant and recovery.

Caroline King, 63, from Wiltshire, shared her extraordinary story of battling granulomatous hepatitis, a rare liver condition. Initially experiencing "scratchy" eyesight in 2018, her condition worsened, leading to jaundice in 2019 and a subsequent diagnosis.
Her health deteriorated to the point of requiring a wheelchair due to fatigue and confusion. A consequence of her medication was severe osteoporosis, which caused her height to decrease from 5ft 4ins to 4ft 6ins. This occurred during the six months she awaited a liver transplant.
Six years after her transplant, King's liver function and eyesight are managed. She has regained some height, now standing at 5ft, and shares her experience to inspire others facing rare diseases. Organizations like the British Liver Trust advocate for increased awareness and research into rare liver conditions.
Rare Disease Day, observed annually on the last day of February, aims to highlight the challenges faced by millions globally living with rare conditions. The British Liver Trust emphasizes the need for earlier diagnosis and specialized care for those affected.
