Jaiswal stressed that for the first six months, infants should be exclusively breastfed, as practices like giving water or herbal mixtures are harmful and must be discouraged.
The state's maternal health cell program officer, Dr. Pushpa, reinforced that breastfeeding is a child's right and strengthens their immune system. She warned against the use of packaged milk, which poses health risks, and urged families to create a supportive environment that allows mothers to breastfeed without hesitation.
