Actor Rakesh Bedi Slams Food Adulteration, Demands Murder Charges

Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has recently spoken out against the pervasive issue of food, beverage, and alcohol adulteration in India. Bedi expressed his strong opinion that individuals responsible for compromising the quality of consumable products, thereby risking consumers' lives for financial gain, should face severe penalties. He suggested that those who adulterate food and drinks should be charged with murder or attempted murder, emphasizing the gravity of endangering public health for profit. This statement comes amidst an aggressive statewide crackdown on food adulteration and hygiene violations in popular eateries and manufacturing units.

Bedi specifically raised concerns about the authenticity of liquors produced in India, citing findings that many 'made-in-India' spirits are allegedly not genuine liquors but rather contain added essences. He questioned the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), asking why such practices had gone unnoticed for so long and why officers had not acted sooner. The actor urged the FSSAI to remain vigilant and not revert to inaction. Beyond alcohol, Bedi highlighted that many food items are also adulterated, reinforcing his call for stringent legal action against offenders.
