Rajasthan Launches RAJ-SURAKSHA for Faster Emergency Care
12 Feb
Summary
- RAJ-SURAKSHA aims to speed up emergency treatment for accidents and childbirth.
- A command center will guide patients to the nearest suitable medical facility.
- Mandatory CPR training for license holders to boost bystander support.

Rajasthan is set to implement the Rajasthan System for Urgent Response, Accident Stabilisation and Hospital Access (RAJ-SURAKSHA) to enhance emergency treatment for critical conditions like road accidents and heart attacks. This initiative, inspired by past mass-casualty road accidents, will feature a round-the-clock Critical Care Command Centre. This centre will leverage a database of nearby medical professionals and institutions to direct patients to the most suitable facility and facilitate live expert consultations for severe cases.
The RAJ-SURAKSHA system prioritizes early identification and treatment for heart attacks, proposing ECG and thrombolysis facilities at the Community Health Centre level. This aims to reduce delays in initiating crucial clot-busting therapy locally. To bolster emergency response capabilities, the state will deploy 250 new ambulances and develop trauma and emergency services with a Rs 150 crore outlay, upgrading divisional headquarters trauma centres.
Capacity building is central to RAJ-SURAKSHA, with plans for phased training for medical staff in critical care and cardiac life support. CPR training will become mandatory for all driving license holders, expanding the number of individuals capable of providing immediate life-saving assistance. Furthermore, new Basic Life Support training centres will be established across five major cities.
