Rajasthan Battles Rising Swine Flu Cases

Rajasthan has intensified its surveillance for swine flu due to a notable increase in H1N1 cases. In the first fortnight of August 2026, the state reported 129 swine flu cases, a substantial jump compared to the 16 cases recorded during the same period in the previous year.

This situation led to a review of the state's preparedness for monsoon-related diseases by the medical and health minister on Tuesday. He directed officials to develop an action plan for swine flu prevention and control.

Authorities are implementing proactive measures, including deploying teams to high-risk areas and conducting regular surveillance. Hospitals statewide have been instructed to prepare isolation beds and other necessary arrangements.

Health experts attribute the current infections to the seasonal pattern of the H1N1 virus, assuring that no new strain has emerged. However, they emphasize the importance of continued vigilance.
