30 Jan
Summary
- 12 deaths linked to government hospital staff negligence.
- Two patients died due to wrong blood transfusions.
- No compensation paid for negligence deaths; actions pending.

The Rajasthan health department has reported 12 deaths attributed to negligence by government hospital staff between January 2023 and December 2025. Furthermore, the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital is linked to two additional deaths resulting from the transfusion of incorrect blood groups.
These fatalities have prompted a response in the state assembly, with investigations revealing that no compensation has been disbursed for the negligence-related deaths. Disciplinary proceedings against the identified staff members are predominantly ongoing or awaiting completion.
Specifically, two young individuals, Sachin Sharma and Chaina Devi, both 23, died at SMS Hospital due to wrong blood transfusions in February 2024 and May 2025, respectively. While charge sheets have been issued in Sharma's case, details regarding action against staff in Devi's death remain unspecified.
For the 12 deaths linked to general negligence, staff have been identified, but disciplinary action is pending in nine instances. One doctor has been suspended, and charge sheets have been served in two cases, though most proceedings are incomplete. No deaths were reported due to fake or substandard medicines during the same period.
