During the 2025-26 financial year, Punjab successfully reached over 1.1 lakh elderly beneficiaries with a comprehensive suite of welfare, healthcare, awareness, and social participation programs. The initiative underscored a commitment to the well-being and active engagement of senior citizens across the state.
Extensive health camps were a cornerstone of the program, facilitating a significant number of screenings. These included 7,552 for non-communicable diseases, 2,181 for cancer, 6,234 orthopaedic assessments, 11,991 eye examinations, 3,395 ENT check-ups, and 2,202 physiotherapy sessions. Notably, 1,520 cataract surgeries were successfully performed, directly enhancing the quality of life for many.
Beyond healthcare, the programs focused on fostering active ageing and social cohesion. This was achieved through 230 intergenerational activities involving senior citizens and youth, and 83 productive ageing initiatives that encouraged continued societal contribution. Awareness programs also reached over 8,000 individuals regarding senior citizen rights and protection.
Further enriching the lives of seniors, the initiative saw 29,186 registrations for holistic well-being camps. Additionally, 6,331 beneficiaries participated in yoga and meditation, while 6,562 engaged in skill development and recreational activities, reflecting a multifaceted approach to elderly care and engagement.
