Punjab Unveils New Paediatric Block, Boosts Preventive Healthcare

In a significant healthcare milestone, the Punjab government has unveiled a new state-of-the-art Paediatric Block at AIMS-Mohali. On Children's Day, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated the 50-bed facility, which includes a 6-bedded PICU, High Dependency Unit, child-friendly wards, a playroom, and a Paediatric Skill Lab.
Earlier, the minister visited the Phase 7 Aam Aadmi Clinic in Mohali, where he interacted with parents and stressed the importance of routine immunization and early preventive healthcare. "Every child in Punjab deserves a healthy start, and preventive care remains our strongest shield," he said, urging families to stay vigilant about timely vaccinations.
The government also announced plans to increase the number of Aam Aadmi Clinics from 881 to 1,100 and expand the panel of free lab tests from 38 to 47 and free medicines from 80 to 112. Additionally, all 140 government health facilities will soon be upgraded with comprehensive Mother and Child Health services, including delivery and cesarean facilities.
