Punjab Unveils 200 New Clinics and Cutting-Edge WhatsApp Chatbot for Healthcare
3 Aug
Summary
- Punjab to open 200 new clinics, totaling 1,081 clinics
- WhatsApp chatbot launched for 881 existing clinics
- Patients to receive digital prescriptions, reports, and reminders

In a significant move, the Punjab government has announced the opening of 200 new "aam aadmi clinics" (AACs) across the state. This will bring the total number of AACs to 1,081, providing greater access to healthcare for the people of Punjab.
Addressing an event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also launched a WhatsApp chatbot for the existing 881 AACs. The CM claimed that approximately 90% of Punjabis own a smartphone, allowing them to be directly reached through WhatsApp. Through this innovative chatbot, patients will now receive complete health-related information, including digital access to doctor's prescriptions and diagnostic reports. The chatbot will also provide reminders about upcoming consultation dates, eliminating the need for patients to physically store prescriptions or medications.
Additionally, the government has approved the establishment of four new medical colleges, one each in Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, and Nawanshahr. This move is expected to further strengthen the state's medical education infrastructure.
The CM also highlighted the success of government-run "schools of eminence," with 208 students from these schools clearing the prestigious JEE Advanced exam, and over 800 students passing the NEET examination this year. This demonstrates the growing quality of education in Punjab's public schools.
