Punjab FDA Cracks Down on Milk Adulteration
9 May
Summary
- 200 milk samples collected across Punjab over two days.
- Samples tested for adulteration and contamination in State Food Laboratory.
- Strict legal action promised for any violations of food safety laws.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) in Punjab recently completed an extensive two-day milk sampling drive across the state. This initiative, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, involved collecting 200 milk samples from diverse locations, including dairy farms, collection centers, processing units, and retail outlets in both urban and rural areas.
These collected samples have been sent to the State Food Laboratory for thorough analysis to detect any instances of adulteration or contamination, ensuring compliance with established standards. The Health Minister emphasized that Food Business Operators found violating food safety norms will face stringent legal consequences under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Furthermore, the FDA is actively sensitizing vendors and dairy operators on hygienic handling and proper storage practices. The department's commitment to public well-being means high standards in the dairy sector are non-negotiable, and this sampling drive is part of a continuous effort to enhance food safety across Punjab.
