Punjab CHC Now Under Charitable Trust
16 Apr
Summary
- Lehragaga CHC now managed by Janhit Trust under charitable partnership.
- This is Punjab's first public-private health facility model.
- A new medical college with 100 MBBS seats is planned.

The community health centre (CHC) in Lehragaga has officially opened its outpatient and inpatient departments under a new charitable partnership model. This significant development occurred after the Punjab government transferred the facility's management to the Janhit Trust. The Acharya Vidyanand Jain Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, a unit of Janhit Trust, will now operate the centre.
This initiative represents Punjab's inaugural public-private partnership in healthcare. The health minister emphasized it as a "charitable partnership" to address the challenge of deploying specialist doctors in rural areas. The Trust commits to 24/7 operations and furnishing ten additional specialists. The government will retain two medical officers and maintain state-notified treatment rates.
