Following medical counsel, the victim's family agreed to organ donation. Subsequently, he was declared brain dead, leading to the initiation of organ allocation by the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), Pune.
One kidney was transplanted into a 34-year-old man at Bharati Hospital, while the other went to a 49-year-old woman in Nashik. A 25-year-old woman received the liver at Ruby Hall Clinic, and the heart was allocated to a 59-year-old man in Mumbai.
The organ retrieval and transplant process involved significant logistical coordination, including the air transfer of an organ from Pune to Mumbai on the same day. A private aircraft was used to ensure the organ reached the recipient hospital promptly.
This organ donation has given four patients a chance at a new life, underscoring the profound impact of such altruistic decisions during times of personal loss.
