Seven new dengue cases emerged in Prayagraj on Thursday, escalating the district's yearly count to 49. The infection continues its spread across urban and rural zones, particularly affecting low-lying neighborhoods. The latest cases were identified in Salori, Govindpur, Allapur within the city, and Chaka, Saidabad, Kaundhiyara in rural locales.
This rise in cases has strained local healthcare facilities, with dengue wards in major hospitals like SRN and Beli Hospital now fully occupied. In response, authorities have launched extensive anti-larval measures and fogging operations in affected areas. Residents are advised to eliminate stagnant water sources and use protective clothing and mosquito nets.
Health officials are encouraging prompt medical consultation for fever symptoms, discouraging self-medication. The municipal corporation is concurrently conducting city-wide fogging to mitigate mosquito populations and prevent further transmission of the dengue virus.
