1 Dec
Summary
- Prairie Farms recalled fat-free milk due to potential food-grade cleaning agents.
- About 320 gallons were sold before the quality issue was discovered.
- Consumers should check for specific product codes and return affected milk.

Prairie Farms has announced a voluntary recall of its Gallon Fat Free Milk, impacting products distributed to Woodman's stores in Illinois and Wisconsin. The recall stems from a potential quality issue identified on November 24, where some milk may have been contaminated with food-grade cleaning agents.
This contamination poses a risk of illness if the affected milk is consumed. The company reported that around 320 gallons were sold before the problem was detected. Affected consumers are advised to check for specific product codes and return any recalled milk to the store for a full refund.
The recall specifically targets fat-free gallons with the DEC08 code date and PLT19-145 plant code, produced between 17:51 and 21:23. Prairie Farms has removed the affected product from store shelves and is cooperating with regulatory bodies to ensure consumer safety.
