Reality star Porsha Williams recently disclosed her journey through an emergency hysterectomy, a procedure necessitated by the significant presence of uterine fibroids. She reported that a total of 21 fibroids were discovered during the surgery, with the most substantial one measuring the size of a cantaloupe.
Williams, known for her role on 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' recounted a long history of dealing with fibroids, which began around the time she was trying to conceive her first child. These growths complicated her pregnancies, leading to miscarriages and painful experiences.
After giving birth to her daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley, Williams faced a resurgence of fibroids, prompting her to seek specialized medical advice. A specialist confirmed the return of over 15 large fibroids, alongside endometriosis and other uterine conditions, recommending a hysterectomy.
Despite the difficult decision to undergo a hysterectomy and the subsequent loss of her uterus, Williams stated that the surgery was lifesaving. She has since reported a 100 percent improvement in her quality of life, attributing it to the removal of the fibroids that caused migraines, low iron, and impacted her physical well-being.
