Ministers Launch Polio Drive in Salem & Namakkal

Pulse polio immunisation drives were actively led by Tamil Nadu ministers in Salem and Namakkal districts this past Sunday. Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban spearheaded the effort in Salem, while Commercial Taxes Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan was present in Namakkal.
The Salem district campaign is targeting a significant number of children, with plans to immunize 2.61 lakh children below the age of six. This extensive effort involves 2,392 centres spread across rural and urban areas, including primary health centres, anganwadis, and schools. A workforce of 9,500 staff and volunteers is dedicated to this initiative.
In Namakkal district, the immunisation drive aims to cover 1.26 lakh children. The district has established 1,192 centres, with 4,768 staff and volunteers involved. Special camps were organized in public spaces like bus stands and railway stations, complemented by 24 mobile teams to ensure children in remote hilly areas also receive their polio drops.
