- This facility, alongside the first, will significantly expand local diagnostic capacity.

Plymouth City Council has allocated land for a second NHS diagnostics centre, with a planning application for a four-storey building at Colin Campbell Court soon to be submitted. This new facility will stand alongside the first NHS England-funded centre, which is scheduled for completion in May.
The expanded site will house advanced equipment, including an additional MRI scanner, DEXA scanning, and ultrasound services. It will also feature dedicated consult rooms for cancer care pathways, significantly boosting diagnostic capacity for residents.
Councillor Mark Lowry stated that the council is transferring the site to the NHS for a symbolic £1, mirroring the process for the first centre. This land donation is crucial for the project's financial viability and timely completion.
The development aims to bring healthcare closer to the community, improve patient experiences, and alleviate pressure on Derriford acute hospital. Furthermore, it is expected to drive increased footfall into the city centre high street.
