A surprising medical case unfolded at a private hospital in Kolkata where doctors extracted a six-inch plastic strip from a woman's arm. The 59-year-old patient had suffered for two-and-a-half years with excruciating pain and a persistent injury, unaware of the foreign object within.
Previous medical evaluations at multiple hospitals failed to detect the plastic strip. Doctors at Charnock Hospital conducted a series of detailed tests, including X-rays and an MRI, which finally revealed the object lodged beside the bone in her upper arm. The strip measured 15 cm and extended up to her elbow.
Surgeons successfully removed the foreign body, suspecting it to be a piece of a broken door frame from when the patient fell two-and-a-half years prior. Thankfully, there was no sign of bone infection. The patient has since recovered well and was discharged two days post-operation.
