Minister Rao Shocks PGIMS Rohtak With Surprise Inspection

Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao initiated a surprise inspection at the Chaudhary Ranbir Singh OPD at PGIMS Rohtak. She issued directives to expedite patient care, specifically mandating that CT scan and MRI reports be provided within one day, a significant reduction from the previous three to four-day turnaround. This measure aims to accelerate patient treatment by providing doctors with timely diagnostic information.

The minister also focused on operational improvements within the OPD. She expressed dissatisfaction with overcrowding for blood sample collection and directed that additional lab technicians and data entry operators be assigned to speed up the process. Furthermore, she mandated that OPD toilets undergo cleaning three times daily following observations of poor hygiene.

During her visit, Minister Rao engaged with patients to gather feedback on the treatment provided. A patient's concern about the limited availability of medicines prompted the minister to order the formation of a committee. This committee will investigate the procurement and provision of only 200 types of medicines, despite the government making over 500 types available.

The minister also inspected various departments, including orthopaedics, gynaecology, super speciality, and surgery. She committed to future surprise inspections and reiterated her primary goal: ensuring patients receive prompt and high-quality medical care. The upcoming induction of new bond doctors is expected to alleviate existing staffing shortages.
