Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has been honored with the national award for the best Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) for the third consecutive year. This marks their fourth overall win since the award's inception in 2019, a testament to their sustained commitment to advancing organ donation.
The accolade was presented during the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day celebrations in New Delhi. Union minister of state for health and family welfare Anupriya Patel presented the award, commending institutions for strengthening India's organ donation movement and promoting ethical transplantation practices. Director of PGIMER, Prof Vivek Lal, expressed pride, attributing the recognition to the tireless efforts of healthcare professionals and the courage of donor families.
ROTTO North, established in 2015, oversees organ donation coordination across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. This latest award confirms PGIMER's national leadership in deceased organ donation, having previously secured the honor in 2019 and consecutively from 2023 to 2025.
