Parents' Plea: Can You Save Our Baby?
14 Feb
Summary
- Newborn Hallie has a rare terminal illness, Zellweger Syndrome.
- Parents fear losing their four-month-old daughter soon.
- Family is fundraising for essential care and memories.

Parents Josie and Ryan McGandy are cherishing every moment with their four-month-old daughter, Hallie, who was born with the extremely rare Zellweger Syndrome. This terminal illness significantly impacts Hallie's ability to breathe and causes seizures, requiring constant tube feeding and medication.
Initially told Hallie was healthy at birth, her condition became apparent within a week following unusual pregnancy scans. An MRI scan revealed issues with her frontal lobe, leading to the diagnosis in October 2025. Zellweger Syndrome affects one in 50,000 newborns, often with life expectancy not exceeding their first birthday.
Both parents carry the gene, making future natural pregnancies a risk, with IVF being a potential but financially challenging option. Unable to work, the family has launched a GoFundMe, raising £14,392 of their £25,000 goal to support Hallie's care and ensure they can create lasting memories.
