A profound double tragedy has struck a family in Exmouth, with parents Gary and Heidi Veacock passing away within weeks of each other. Gary, a former Royal Marine officer who had recently retired, died unexpectedly on January 12. His death was attributed to undiagnosed high blood pressure.
His wife, Heidi, a gifted pastry chef known for her vibrant spirit, succumbed to neuroendocrine cancer and carcinoid disease. She passed away at home on March 1, just two weeks after Gary's funeral. The couple's daughters, Amber and Mia, are being supported by their community.
Loved ones have established an online fundraiser to assist Amber and Mia with funeral costs and to allow them to create special memories. This initiative has already garnered significant support, raising over £35,000. Gary was also recognized for his community involvement, including organizing a fundraising abseil for the Royal Free Charity, inspired by the care Heidi received.
