- Group activity improves physical strength and mobility.

A paralysed former bodybuilder, Kevin Jenkins, 62, has found new independence through accessible fitness classes. Following an aortic dissection in 2023 that resulted in paralysis from the waist down, Jenkins underwent NHS physiotherapy. He later joined a non-profit group in Lincoln, founded by Rob Wilkins, which focuses on making physical activity accessible for all.
Jenkins has seen remarkable progress, now able to transfer himself in and out of his wheelchair and stand to use the toilet. This has significantly improved his quality of life, alleviating the difficulties he faced for three years. His improved strength allows him to use an electric wheelchair for daily tasks.
Neil Compton, 54, also benefits from the program after a motorcycle accident in 2024 left him with paralysis in his right leg. He reports substantial improvements in strength and mobility, finding everyday tasks like standing easier. Compton can now navigate a supermarket using a walking frame.
Rob Wilkins, a former military rehabilitation instructor, established the group to provide similar support to civilians. He recognized the need for accessible physical activity programs for individuals recovering from injuries and various health conditions, drawing from his military experience to create a supportive environment.
