Summary
- Young woman died weeks after a paracetamol overdose due to relationship breakup.
- She later took painkillers for toothache, leading to liver failure.
- Coroner noted she did not intend to take her own life during the overdose.

A tragic incident unfolded when Jessica Reynolds, 23, died weeks after an attempted suicide via paracetamol overdose, initially prompted by a relationship ending in June last year. She faced challenges in accessing mental health support following this event.
In the subsequent month, Ms. Reynolds experienced severe illness, including breathlessness, vomiting, and confusion. Hospital tests revealed catastrophic liver failure, determined to be a consequence of the initial overdose and subsequent use of large quantities of paracetamol for dental pain.
Doctors initiated dialysis and placed her on an urgent transplant register. However, her condition deteriorated, leading to multi-organ failure and her passing on July 25. The coroner concluded that Ms. Reynolds did not intend to end her life.
Ms. Reynolds' brother described her as a cherished, bright, and caring individual who fought through challenges. Her history included quitting university after her father's death and later experiencing improved mental health before the relationship ended.
