A health department inquiry has been initiated following an incident at Palwal civil hospital where an occultist attempted to treat a snake-bite victim. The 20-year-old patient was brought to the hospital on Tuesday after being bitten on the right hand.
Although the patient was administered anti-venom and kept under observation by medical staff, her family members summoned an occultist. This individual proceeded to perform rituals near the emergency ward entrance, claiming to extract venom, in the presence of other patients.
Hospital officials intervened immediately, removing the suspect from the premises. The patient remained under observation for several hours before being transferred to another hospital, where she made a full recovery. The chief medical officer stated an inquiry is underway to understand how the incident occurred and how the suspect gained access as an attendant.
