Summary
- Over 500,000 Brits sought overseas surgery last year.
- A new platform simplifies finding accredited EU hospitals.
- Packages include diagnosis, surgery, and follow-up care.

A record 523,000 British patients sought surgical treatment overseas in 2024, more than double the number from 2021, as the NHS backlog reached 7.11 million. Many patients found the process of comparing hospitals and fees overly complex.
My Medical Gateway, a new digital marketplace, aims to simplify access to medical care by connecting patients with accredited private hospitals across the EU. The platform allows for like-for-like comparisons of providers and booking of surgery dates within weeks.
Initially, the platform features 49 procedures across 13 hospitals in six countries, including popular holiday destinations like Spain, Malta, Greece, and Cyprus. All partner hospitals are licensed, internationally accredited, and comply with EU regulations.
My Medical Gateway offers fully inclusive packages covering remote diagnosis, surgery, hospital stays, consultant care, and follow-up reviews within 90 days. Optional financing and medical travel insurance are also available.
