After undergoing a complex neurosurgical procedure on March 23, Rani Devi's condition unfortunately did not improve. A panel of four senior consultants confirmed her brain death. Following discussions with transplant coordinators, her family agreed to organ donation.
Two patients from the official waiting list received successful kidney transplants. The organs were transported on March 28, with surgeries completed shortly after. This event marks the second cadaveric organ transplant conducted by SGPGI this year, highlighting the institute's expertise.
