Priyanka Yadav, a 26-year-old resident of Ghaziabad, tragically passed away from severe head injuries sustained in a road accident. Her family, after she was declared brain dead, made the difficult yet compassionate decision to donate her organs.
Her selfless act led to the donation of her kidneys, liver, heart valves, and corneas, providing vital organs to patients in need of transplants. This profound gesture transformed personal tragedy into a source of life for others.
Recently, the Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO) at AIIMS Delhi honored 38 donor families, including Priyanka's, for their noble contributions. AIIMS director Prof Nikhil Tandon emphasized that organ donation is a noble act granting new life and urged the public to overcome myths surrounding it.
ORBO actively works to facilitate organ donations through mandatory death notifications and extensive training programs for medical professionals. They also recognized individuals who had pledged their bodies for donation, supporting medical education and research.
