Courageous Wife Donates Husband's Organs This Diwali

A 35-year-old man from Dehgam, Gandhinagar, tragically passed away after suffering severe head injuries in a road accident near his hometown.
Following the accident on October 31, he was initially treated in Gandhinagar before being transferred to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on October 31. Despite extensive medical efforts, his critical injuries led doctors to declare him brain dead on November 3.
His grieving wife, though facing immense pain, displayed extraordinary courage. After counselling from hospital staff, she gave consent for organ donation, offering a chance at life to others.
Through her noble decision, one liver and two kidneys were successfully retrieved. These organs were promptly transported for transplantation within the Civil Medicity campus.
This act marks a significant milestone for Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, which has now facilitated 260 organ donations. The institution has a cumulative total of 1,126 organs and tissues donated over time.
Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Medical Superintendent, praised the family's humanity and courage during their darkest hour, emphasizing the profound impact of organ donation.
