A cutting-edge Orbital Navigation System was recently inaugurated at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), IMS-BHU. This advanced technology represents a significant leap in precision orbital and craniofacial surgery and is the first of its kind to be introduced in Uttar Pradesh.
The system was unveiled by BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi. Live demonstrations showcased its capabilities in complex surgeries, highlighting its integration of advanced imaging with real-time guidance. This technology is expected to greatly improve the accuracy and safety of surgical procedures.
Its implementation will particularly benefit the treatment of orbital tumors, trauma, and complex craniofacial injuries. The facility will also serve as a vital platform for training postgraduate students and faculty, fostering research and innovation in image-guided surgery.
As part of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight, a ceremony also honored the families of eye donors.
