A grieving family has expressed their devastation following the "needless" death of a children's nurse who died just three days after her severe chest pain was misdiagnosed. Paula Ivers, aged 47, sought medical attention at Tameside General Hospital, presenting with acute chest pain.
However, medical staff diagnosed her condition as acid reflux and sent her home with a prescription for indigestion medication. This occurred on March 8, 2024. Sadly, she passed away at her home in Denton, Manchester, three days later.
An inquest into her death has concluded, with the coroner determining that neglect contributed to her passing. Her sister stated that Paula received poor care from the NHS when it was most critical.
