- The Care Quality Commission called for improvements from senior leadership this year.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is set to welcome a new chief executive officer later this year. Mark Axcell has been appointed to lead the trust, which has been under intense scrutiny. This attention stems partly from its role in the treatment of Valdo Calocane, the individual convicted in the Nottingham attacks.
A report published this year by the Care Quality Commission highlighted the need for senior leadership within the trust to implement improvements. Axcell, previously the CEO of NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, stated he was "really pleased to be joining the trust at this critical time."
Tom Cahill, the chairman of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, expressed his delight at the appointment, describing Axcell as a "highly experienced NHS chief executive." Cahill is confident that Axcell will provide the inspirational leadership required to guide the trust through its next phase and support its ambition to deliver optimal care to patients.
