Norway Princess Mette-Marit Awaits Lung Transplant
6 Jun
Summary
- Crown Princess Mette-Marit is on a lung transplant list due to worsening pulmonary fibrosis.
- Doctors believe she has approximately one year left to live without the transplant.
- She is suspending official duties during her treatment and recovery period.

Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 52, is awaiting a lung transplant as her diagnosed pulmonary fibrosis has significantly worsened. The Royal Court announced that the Crown Princess has been placed on the official transplant list.
Pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease with no known cure, has caused severe scarring of her lung tissue. Doctors estimate that patients placed on the transplant list typically have about one year left to live. The Crown Princess will temporarily suspend her official duties to undergo treatment and rehabilitation.
A medical update will be provided only after the transplant has occurred, followed by an extended recovery period. Her son, Marius Borg Høiby, also faced scrutiny earlier this year related to his legal trials and past associations.
