The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in Nottinghamshire has officially welcomed its first patients, marking a significant milestone for rehabilitation medicine in England. This £105 million facility, located at Stanford Hall, was initially slated to open last year but faced a delay due to a failed water quality check.
Equipped with 70 beds, the state-of-the-art NRC is designed to aid individuals recovering from life-changing illnesses or injuries, promoting optimal recovery. Health officials envision this centre as a model for rehabilitation care delivery across the entire NHS.
Operating on the same 365-acre site as the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC), the NRC will offer more intensive treatments and earlier rehabilitation. It is set to receive patients from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Rutland, many of whom will be referred from the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre.
