Woman sues NHS after 11 years of mistaken cancer treatment
14 Sep
Summary
- A 33-year-old woman endured 11 years of chemotherapy.
- She was initially told she had a terminal brain tumour.
- The condition was later found to be a treatable inflammation.
Becky Jones, now 33, has recently learned that she was misdiagnosed with a terminal brain tumour at the age of 21. For over a decade, she underwent extensive chemotherapy treatment, which severely impacted her quality of life, career prospects, and personal events. During this time, she was repeatedly told that chemotherapy was essential for her survival.
It has now been revealed that Ms. Jones never had cancer but rather an inflammation of the brain. This condition could have been effectively managed with steroids. As a result of the prolonged and unnecessary treatment, she is among more than 40 patients pursuing legal action against University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.
