Construction has commenced on a new multimillion-pound community diagnostic centre in Lincolnshire, situated on the former pitch of Boston United's ground on York Street in Boston. The £24.9 million development, according to Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG), marks the start of a 20-week construction period. A ground-breaking ceremony was held to signify the beginning of these works.
The Boston Community Diagnostic Centre is anticipated to open its doors to patients in spring 2027. It is projected to provide essential diagnostic services for up to 70,000 patients annually. This initiative aims to enhance testing capacity within Lincolnshire and repurpose a community space that has been vacant since Boston United moved to their new stadium in 2020.
Upon completion, the centre will be equipped with advanced medical technology. Facilities will include two new MRI scanners, two new CT scanners, X-ray capabilities, three ultrasound rooms, a DEXA scanner, eight additional consultation rooms, and a dedicated audiology service space. This expansion is set to significantly improve healthcare access and services for the local population.
