Summary
- The Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute moved to a new, modern facility.
- The new space offers enhanced patient comfort and integrated care opportunities.
- The institute relocated after over 30 years in its previous, deteriorating location.

To commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month, Allegheny Health Network's Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute celebrated a significant move to a new facility on Friday. This transition marks an end to over 30 years at its former location in Four Allegheny Center. The institute now occupies the third floor of the Federal North building on Pittsburgh's North Side.
The new space is designed to offer integrated, patient-centered care with innovation and compassion. It features a much brighter atmosphere, improved lighting, and new furniture, a stark contrast to the previous site's problematic heating, air conditioning, and general deterioration. For younger patients, the institute boasts an upgraded Austin's Playroom, a donation from the Mario Lemieux Foundation, providing enhanced activities.
This move also strategically places the institute adjacent to other health departments, fostering opportunities for collaboration and more integrated care delivery. Leadership expressed that the vulnerable patient population, often dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders, deserves such an improved and welcoming environment. The new facility is set to officially open for patients on May 11.
