New Daisy Suite Opens for Bereaved Parents
7 Feb
Summary
- A new maternity bereavement building is under construction.
- The project surpassed its £150,000 fundraising goal.
- The suite will offer a private space for emotional and practical support.

Work has begun on the construction of a new maternity bereavement building, named the Daisy Suite, at Northampton General Hospital. This initiative by Northamptonshire Health Charity aims to create a dedicated private, calm, and compassionate space for families who have experienced the loss of a baby.
The project successfully surpassed its £150,000 fundraising target, with the suite set to provide enhanced care and support. Bereavement midwives will be able to offer emotional and practical assistance in a setting away from the main maternity ward.
Currently, parents dealing with the loss of a baby often have to visit the maternity day unit for follow-up appointments, which can exacerbate their distress. The new Daisy Suite will offer parents a private environment to talk with clinical teams, ensuring they feel supported away from a busy ward.
