The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has put forth a proposal to establish a new 100-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) at Swami Dayanand Hospital. This initiative falls under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 117 crore, is slated for completion within a 15-month timeframe.
Swami Dayanand Hospital serves as a significant referral center for East Delhi and adjacent regions of Uttar Pradesh. The hospital currently handles a high volume of patients, including over 3,000 OPD patients daily and approximately 10,000 emergency cases monthly. A substantial number of these patients require advanced critical care.
The proposed CCU will include specialized facilities such as ICU beds, HDU beds, pediatric care, isolation units, emergency services, and operation theatres. This development aims to bridge the gap in critical care services, which was highlighted as a critical need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
